Lyrics
AUTUMN WIND
by Karen Robinson © 1974
I left my home in the autumn wind
The autumn wind brought me home again
If ever I go from my home, I know
That it would surely be in the autumn wind
For that autumn wind can blow colder here
Than in many a place, ‘cause I’ve been there
It can chill your bones through and through I know
But it should never be enough t’make you go
Now a farmer’s life’s not a worldly life
To leave my home, well it seemed so right
Oh, by leaving home I came to know
That from a farmer’s life I should never go
Take the back stairs up through a darkened door
To an empty cot on a bare board floor
Eating food not grown by loving hands
Made me dream, long for my father’s land
I left my home in the autumn wind
The autumn wind brought me home again
Oh never I’ll go from my home I know
Never I’ll go in that Autumn wind
