Lyrics

THE NIGHT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT
by Karen Robinson ©2018

The night the lights went out I saw beyond the moon
Down here, on Earth, The Plan in ruin. God’s careful braid undoing

The night the lights went out, stars luminosity
Traced the tangled Prophesy, exposing our hypocrisy

And me
I cling to ancient rumours, threads of earthly faith and babble
Where I hang the inconsistencies, where certainties unravel
But there, before my eyes, I saw hope in the darkness
Like ribbons of Aurora borealis, clear as day
Bright strands of hope interwove, across the black and gray
Floating high, it laced the sky, as clear as day, clear as day

The night the lights went out, my sins still unforgiven
I saw woven strings of stars. I wonder, was it Heaven?

And me
Still clinging to thin rumours, threads of earthly faith and babble
Where I hang the inconsistencies, where certainties unravel
But there, before my eyes, I saw hope in the darkness
Like ribbons of Aurora borealis, clear as day
Bright strands of hope interwove, across the black and gray
Floating high, it laced the sky, as clear as day, clear as day

The night the lights went out, I saw as clear as day
Gifts of woven strings of stars. I wonder, was it Heaven?
